So my positive attitude is still intact, but I'm in a bit of a flare. It's been 4 or 5 days since I've had more than a couple of hours of sleep and my back is on fire. Reality bites. lol
The good thing is that I knew this is coming...and just as it snuck up on me....it too will sneak away again for a break. I'm learning to ride the waves of this disease, and while this valley isn't any fun...I've come to learn how to take care of myself and ride the wave back up to the top.
Right now my son and husband are both out of town...but as of Sunday they will both be back...hopefully I'll be able to keep focusing on taking care of myself with the fam back at home. It's hard to feel like I'm taking away from them to take care of me...but I've recently accepted the fact (in my heart, not just my head), that I'm off no use to either of them if I can't take care of myself.....so wish me luck.

Good to hear from you! I've always enjoyed some quiet time when the family is off somewhere for a few days! I can be lazy without guilt that I should be doing something else. Great post -- you captured perfectly the ups and downs of getting through flares with and without family around.
Hope your flare dies down soon. At least with the family away you can rest and just take care of you.
You always manage to express exactly how I feel about this condition
I wanted to email you, but couldn't quite figure out how to do that. I am Kellie, 42, I live in Anchorage and have fibro also. I stumbled across you blog because I am searching for a local support group. I don't suppose you know of any here in town?
thanks in advance,
kellie

You're so right! Learning to accept the ups and downs and ride the waves is critical with CFS and FM. It seems backward at first, but once you go with the flow, things get much better.
It's also good that you had some time alone to recuperate while you were crashed. It's so hard to rest when you're trying to also take care of your family. I hope you're feeling much better by now!

Good Luck! You have a terrific attitude, surfing those waves---you go girl!
Hope your flare dies down for a while so you can take care of yourself.
i too have fibro and had so many horrible flares this summer due to so many thunderstorms. I even ended up in the ER for some shots.
Have you found anything that helps?
